  1. DOGFIGHT NEAR ACHMER

  3. Although not primarily intended for one-
  4. on-one engagements with Allied fighters, 
  5. the He 162 proved on at least one 
  6. occasion that it was able to hold its own 
  7. against the best the Americans had to 
  8. offer.  When a P-51 pilot encountered the 
  9. tiny German jet at low altitude in April of 
  10. 1945, he found that the Volksjager was 
  11. able to turn and climb as well as his 
  12. Mustang, and bettered his mount in 
  13. acceleration and level speed.

  15.                     YOUR MISSION

  17. Follow your flight leader on a fighter 
  18. sweep from your base at Zeist.  You're 
  19. likely to encounter enemy jet activity in 
  20. the area around Achmer and Varrelbusch 
  21. Luftwaffe airfields.  During an 
  22. engagement, stay with your flight leader 
  23. as much as possible and defend his "six" 
  24. from any attacking aircraft.
